David Hockney makes the point that art images and photography have been intimately associated even before the first photograph was fixed on a surface. I believe this is true. Some photography is definitely art and artists - painters in particular - and photographers have inspired each other. Painters have used photography in their works; photographers have worked with artists - and some have been both a painter and a photographer. One reason these connections are of interest to me is that I have grown up in the midst of a pioneering collection of contemporary art and always looked at images (see "About"). Here is a selection of works with reference to the art world and artistic expression. They can be categorised in photo paintings, collages, black-and-whites, pictures at exhibitions, the Black Girl With A Pearl Earring, and the Rouen Cathedral. Some are single works from suites, e.g the Rouen Cathedral Series consists of ten works reflecting the change of light from early morning to night.
